We format it into a small paperback book— simple, clean, and personal. When it’s ready, we send you a free printed copy you can hold in your hands.

Record your story
We use the free StoryCorps app for your recording. It was created so ordinary people could share their everyday lives. StoryCorps has helped over 700,000 people record and archive their stories.
You don’t need a script or a plan—just your voice and a moment of honesty. You speak; the app records. We take it from there and turn it into a book.
Where to start
The app gives you simple questions to help you begin — little memories, big moments, and everything in between.
It doesn’t even have to be a “story.” It can simply be the words you’d want your grandkids to remember.

Can I add more stories later?
Yes—the free app lets you record as many stories as you want. Your free book includes up to 45 minutes of you speaking (a first recording session). If you want to turn more stories into a larger hardcover keepsake book, ask about our Heirloom Edition.
Can I include photos?
Your free book is beautifully formatted text‑only so we can keep it simple and fast. If you decide you want a version with photos, chapters, and a custom cover, we offer that in our Heirloom Edition.
Do I need to be good with technology?
No—if you can make a phone call, you can record a story. The app is simple, and we walk you through it.
Is this really free?
Yes—your 45‑minute recording session becomes a small, printed paperback—our gift to you. It's typically from 25 to 40 pages. No strings attached.
Can I get more copies of my book?
Yes—if you want us to, we can publish your book on Amazon at a very low cost so family can purchase additional copies.
How are you making money on this?
This is the first question I would personally ask. I’m a born skeptic. As my mom used to say—if it looks too good to be true, it probably is. Here’s how we make money:
1. Some people buy extra copies.
Your first paperback really is free. If you want extra copies for your kids or grandkids, they’re $14.99 each. We earn a small royalty from Amazon—about $6.70 per copy. Because our process is so efficient, we break even at around five books. So yes, we hope you’ll order a few extra copies. But you don’t have to. This whole project started as a personal mission: every grandparent should be able to pass on at least one story.
2. Some people choose our Heirloom Edition.
A few families want something more:

This is a personal mission
Mary and I have 22 grandchildren. Their parents know our stories. But the grandkids are young. They don't know all the stories.
Our mission is to make sure everyone can pass on at least one great story—in their own voice!
Price should not keep you from doing this. So, we publish up to 45 minutes of your verbal story as a paperback for free.
